Teen Illicit and Prescription Drug Use Findings

The 2006 Monitoring the Future survey of 8th, 10th, and 12th graders, funded by NIH’s National Institute on Drug Abuse, indicates that their past-month use of illicit drugs has dropped 23.2 percent since 2001. However, while teen smoking and alcohol consumption have decreased, abuse of prescription opioids remains at high levels. (ONDCP)
